Bloom Magazine.
“[Busey] says she sees the process of art making and close looking — a deliberate examination of a work of art, focusing on its details without assigning meaning — as healing. …Art allows you to transport yourself away from the very stressful thing that is happening.”

The pattern of this mural was created using a Voronoi diagram. This is a mathematical construct that describes closeness: every point within a given region is closer to a specific point in that region than it is to any other point outside that region.
Patterns in nature that are explained by this construction include air bubble packing, leaf cellular structures and giraffe skin. Voronoi patterns can be used in important problem-solving from new school construction to cholera epidemics, or more daily ones such as optimizing pizza delivery times.
This mural was created to celebrate the re-opening and expansion of Ethos Fitness in October 2021. Closeness and connection, whether in person or virtually, are the hallmarks of this supportive, motivating community.
